Tara Reade- A #MeToo Survivor Cyber Bullied
Tara Reade was a young, political hopeful who embraced a future with wide eyes and the hope of immersing herself in an environment where she could learn and grow professionally. Unfortunately, that’s not what fate had in store for her.
Instead, she was victimized by someone she trusted, admired, and looked up to as a mentor. There is no rape survival playbook for a woman to consult with after she’s been assaulted by her boss in a public place while simply doing her job. There are no rules that you’re taught as a little girl that prepares you for the shock, the horror, or the regret of surviving such an ordeal. Tara did as well as she could. She handled the trauma as well as anyone could and for that she has been punished.
First, Tara was punished by her employer, and then she was continually attacked by the public that supported this man without question; their support was based on tribalism and a desire to win an election. An unfortunate side effect of a nightmarish Trump presidency for Democrats is the willingness of voters to throw sexual trauma survivors under the bus if the survivor poses a potential threat to the champion the DNC has chosen to defeat Trump.
